TERMS AND TERMINOLOGY

There are a variety of terms with which a student of comics must become familiar in order to derive a fuller understanding and appreciation of the genre. These include the terms to describe and define the genre itself, the language of comics, filmic language, and even the language of the Gaze, a broad theoretical approach to the role that looking and perception play in visual culture.
